Often people's first reaction after hearing the word 'Ballynahinch' (other pronunciations include 'Balnahinch' or 'Bally-NAA-hinch') is a look of confusion and lots of laughter.
This is soon followed with the question, so where is that? The aim of this page is to help answer that question! The answer is halfway between Belfast and Newcastle - so now you know where we are!
What is that I hear you say, that explanation didn't help much? Well, for those not familiar with Northern Ireland, let's start at the beginning!
'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' Genesis 1 v 1.

The red star indicates Ballynahinch's position in the world. We are sure you are impressed!
Now, that was a lot of help in finding us? Let get a little closer!
This earth which was created was divided up into land masses called continents, which in turn have been spilt into countries (usually after hundred's of years of fighting and war!). The picture above shows the countries in Europe. The image below shows where Ballynahinch is relative to the UK and Ireland - part of Northern Ireland, sandwiched nicely between Ireland and the UK.
Now that we have a better grasp of where Ballynahinch is in relation to the world, let's get down to business, where is it and how do I get there?
The following map shows the local towns and roads which you can use to get to Ballynahinch.

As you can see, take the A24 out of Belfast and follow the road south until you come to Ballynahinch. If you are coming from south of Ballynahinch, take the A24 North!
If you are coming from other places in Northern Ireland and need directions, drop us a line here or have a look at Mapquest for directions. Simply enter Ballynahinch as the destination.
We hope to see you soon! |
