The Bowling Club continues to meet on Wednesday nights and have had a full programme of friendly home and away matches with local clubs. Some members have competed in local tournaments.
We concluded last season with our annual dinner and prize distribution at the Clough Inn.
Our annual tournament from 31 January to 5 February was a huge success and attracted competitors from a wide area, eg Cookstown, Donaghmore, Antrim, Ballyclare, Gilford and all over Co Down. A large attendance of spectators on Saturday night enjoyed the very competitive bowling. In a close tie-end game, two pairs from Ballinderry Club battled for the Tercentenary Cup, with Raymond and Gordon Stubbs emerging winners - Paul Reid and Eddie Marsden runners-up.
We thank Lafarge Cement Ireland, David Hunter, Ballynahinch Fuel Co and Ulster Bank for
their generous sponsorship, members of the Club who gave donations and the leaders of the organisations who made the Huston Hall available to the Club during tournament week.
To members of the Club who suffered bereavement during the season we extend our sincere sympathy and pray that they will know God's comfort in the days ahead. To those who have health problems we pray that God will be close to them and restore them to health and strength.
We are rapidly coming to the end of the bowling season but I extend my usual invitation to anyone who would like to join us on Wednesday evenings at 7.45pm - you are never too young or too old to play bowls and a warm welcome awaits you.
