Guides Report ALSO IN THIS SECTION
The Guides have had an enjoyable and eventful year. The girls gained their yearly challenge badges and completed Peace & Lifewise and Go for It. Everyone took part in First Aid training and received their First Aid Badges. Other badges gained were Campers, Craft and Confectioners; for the Craft Badge the girls made cards, friendship bracelets, tie and dye, glass painting and balloon modelling.

We tested our skills at wild plant identification and outdoor cooking with varying degrees of success and completed a litter survey of Ballynahinch. The girls received their awards at our treasure hunt and picnic at Delamont Country Park in June.

In July we took part in Leap 2004 Camp at Lorne along with 300 other girls and leaders. Activities for the week included dragon boat racing on the Lagan, ten-pin bowling, ice skating, craft, talent competitions, quizzes, archery and many more activities on and off site.

In September we entered the South Down Challenge Bowl Competition and in October the older girls and leaders travelled to Manchester Evening News Arena, to attend the 'BIG GIG' pop concert. We saw Mis-teeq, Lemar, Girls Aloud, Rachel Stevens, V, Rooster, The 411, Phixx and many more - 25,000 screaming girls and leaders, what an experience!

We also joined with the Scouts for a number of activities including fundraising events for charities and also for our own Units.

We, the leaders, thank everyone who has supported us in any way during the past year and especially the parents who make sure the girls attend each week.

We invite girls between the ages of 10 and 14 to join our Unit - you will be made very welcome.
