The year started with quite a few girls moving up to Guides while our intake from Rainbows was low. The reduced numbers, however, did not stop us from enjoying a wide range of activities together with normal badge work through which the girls learn about the world around them and gain much personal satisfaction.
One of the most enjoyable evenings was when a speaker from 'World of Owls' visited the unit and brought with him several species of owl together with a large snake and a tarantula spider! It's not often one finds owls flying around the Huston Hall and everyone enjoyed the experience. Once again at Christmas we went carol singing at Sprucefield with the Scouts and Guides which helped the unit's finances. This was followed in January with a disco hosted by DJ Richard Scott (who we thank again) and in February by ten-pin bowling.
Our biggest event this year was when we celebrated the Brownies' 90th birthday at Lorne where a large party was organized for all Brownie units. This was a fun packed day out with many activities available.
We continually seek to provide a varied and challenging programme to stimulate the girls so if
you are aged between 7 and 10 please come and join us at 6.30pm on Tuesday evenings and see for yourself.
